Cetilar Racing and an unfortunate 6 Hours of Watkins Glen
A complicated weekend, which ended with a withdrawal for Roberto Lacorte, Antonio Fuoco and Giorgio Sernagiotto, the unlucky heroes of the 6 Hours of Watkins Glen.
The third of four appointments in the Michelin Endurance Cup series of the IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship didn’t end up as hoped for the crew of the Cetilar Racing team.
In the qualifying session on Saturday, Lacorte, just back from his sixth participation in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, couldn’t get further than 17th position in class, while for him and his team mates the race ended finally after five hours and 17 minutes due to a technical problem with the Ferrari 296 GT3 number 47, again managed technically by AF Corse.
A huge disappointment, also because the “Glen” could have been the redeeming race, after withdrawing from the 24 Hours of Daytona and the 14th place in the GTD after the 12 Hours of Sebring last March.
But the desire for redemption is still high, and all eyes are now on the fourth and final appointment in the US endurance series, which will be held at the Road Atlanta circuit in mid-October, during the Petit Le Mans.
