Cetilar Racing: buona la prima nel FIA WEC 2019-2020
Everyone was happy at Cetilar Racing, at the end of the race that marked the debut of the all-Italian team in the FIA WEC Championship. A race that Roberto Lacorte, Giorgio Sernagiotto and Andrea Belicchi completed in the best way. After 4 hours, their #47 Dallara powered by AF Corse finished sixth in the LMP2 class, at the edge of the top 10 overall.
This result went beyond the expectations, considering it was the debut in a high-level international endurance Championship, as well as the technical gap by the rivals they will try step by step to reduce in the 2019-2010 seasons that has been started in Uk.
After setting the eight quickest time during the Saturday’s qualifying, Belicchi made a good pace in the opening stint. Due to the strategy, the second to jump into the car was Sernagiotto, taking advantage of the weather condition – with rain and dry – to fight for the third/four position. Eventually Lacorte had a good driving-stint too.
“Finishing the race after fighting with Oreca and the other front-runners, showed our passion”, commented Lacorte, “The team made a huge job, with a perfect race-strategy. Andrea completed a great stint. Giorgio was wonderful with wet track and I tried to have their pace”.
“It was a very positive weekend, beyond the expectations. We took the sixth position fighting with the rest of the pack”, added Sernagiotto, “We have still work to do, but are on the right way. Our feeling with the team is great. That was the best debut we could have and go home happy”.
The next FIA WEC round will be held at Fuji, in Japan, on 4, 5, 6 October.
