Cetilar Racing comes fifth in the qualifying sessions at the 12 Hours of Sebring
The week of the seventieth edition of the 12 Hours of Sebring, second in the four rounds of the IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup 2022 series, began in the best possible way for the Cetilar Racing team.
The legendary US event was inaugurated with a fifth place in the GTD class recorded in the first free practice session on Thursday and the third best time recorded in the second useful session by the Ferrari 488 GT3 Evo 2020 no.47 managed by AF Corse and, as usual, alternating Roberto Lacorte, Giorgio Sernagiotto and Antonio Fuoco at the wheel.
Sernagiotto was then on the track this afternoon in the single qualifying session to decide the starting grid for the race that will begin tomorrow. On the over 6 km long track in Florida, the driver from Veneto recorded the seventh best time among the GT cars and once more the fifth it its category, 0.15 seconds from the pole position. An excellent calling card for this authentic stars and stripes event in which all three Italian drivers are making their début.
“We were always up there in front,” commented Giorgio Sernagiotto, “Roberto, Antonio and I are all very pleased. The car is reacting very well. Even though we had a bit of bad luck in the qualifying session, up to the last minute we were the fastest and in the end we came just short of holding on to the first place. What counts in any case is that we’ve got what it takes to do a good job. There are some good vibes and we are all very relaxed.”.
omorrow the race will get the green light at 10:40 a.m. in the morning, local time (3:40 p.m. in Italy), and will be streamed live on the channel Imsa.tv. Radio24 will also be following the event with Carlo Genta’s podcast.
