Vitamina Sailing shines at the Scarlino warm-up
This weekend marked an excellent start to the season for Vitamina Sailing, the team competing for the Repubblica Marinara di Pisa Yacht Club, at the first engagement in 2021 at Scarlino, in Maremma: the Swan One Design Scarlino Warm-Up. A sort of final rehearsal for the circuit reserved for Nautor’s Swan monotypes, which will start from Marina di Scarlino at the end of May and is without doubt the most important for competitive sailing around buoys.
Vitamina Cetilar, a committed participant in the Club Swan 36 class, was very much in the spotlight throughout these three days of super sailing in Tuscany that brought together 18 boats (seven 36’ and eleven 50’), with prominent names from international sailing on board.
Helmsman, Andrea Lacorte, accompanied by champions of Trieste Gabriele Benussi (tactician) and Alberto Bolzan (mast man), in each of the six trials held over the two days (no regatta on Sunday due to strong wind) never let Vitamina Cetilar fall from the podium, obtaining a score super (2, 2, 2, 1, 3, 2) that has taken them to the head of the final classification with a wide advantage over the rest of the fleet: eleven points more than G Spot and Far Star, who came second and third respectively.
A blend of speed, good tactical choices, perfect manoeuvres and constancy that clearly made the difference, enabling the crew, led by Andrea Lacorte and coordinated by Team Manager, Matteo De Luca, to come in first and give a strong signal leading up to the beginning of the circuit which, following Scarlino will go to Porto Cervo and Palma de Mallorca (twice).
“It was a great session and my compliments go to the whole team for performing so well during this first step of the season,” said helmsman Andrea Lacorte. “Despite being just a warm up, it was an important and satisfying opportunity to measure ourselves against the rest of the fleet. We are right where we want to be, now we have to keep our noses to the grindstone and stay fully focused.”
